WATT Implicit Biases Workshop

WATT presents a talk by Psychology Professor Jenessa Shapiro!

Women and students of color are significantly under-represented in STEM fields and perform significantly worse in these fields. When it comes to understanding these disparities in STEM, social psychology has identified a number of situation factors, including stereotype threats the distracting concern about confirming negative stereotypes. This talk will review stereotype threat theory and research, and will conclude with a review of strategies that have been shown to protect against stereotype threat and subtle biases.
