A warm congratulations to Professor Jason Cong along with PhD candidate Atefeh Sohrabizadeh, and graduate student researchers Cody Hao Yu, and Min Gao for receiving the 2023 Best Paper Award from the ACM Transactions on Design Automation of Electronic Systems (TODAES). Their paper “AutoDSE: Enabling Software Programmers to Design Efficient FPGA Accelerators” published in February 2022 presents automated design space exploration methods of different microarchitectures to enable high-performance hardware accelerator designs from software programming languages.

Dr. Cong served as the chair of the UCLA Computer Science Department from 2005 to 2008. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, and Fellow of ACM, IEEE, and the National Academy of Inventors. Additionally, Dr. Cong has graduated 44 PhD students. Four of them are now IEEE Fellows and one of them is also an ACM Fellow. Many others hold key R&D or management positions in various companies related to information technologies. Dr. Cong and several of his PhD students and postdocs were co-founders of three startups that originated from UCLA – Aplus Design Technologies, AutoESL Design Technologies, and Falcon Computing Solutions

TODAES is a premier design and automation of electronic systems ACM journal. The organization works to publish innovative work documenting significant research and development advances on the specification, design, analysis, simulation, testing, and evaluation of electronic systems, emphasizing a computer science/engineering orientation.
