Prof Miryung Kim PLDI Keynote

UCLA Computer Science Professor and Vice Chair of Graduate Studies Miryung Kim delivered a prestigious keynote address at the 47th ACM SIGPLAN Conference on Programming Language Design and Implementation (PLDI 2026). PLDI is a premier conference for programming languages and compiler research, and Professor Kim’s invited keynote demonstrates her ongoing and substantial contributions to the field.

Her talk, titled “Navigating the AI Validation Bottleneck with Conformance Testing and Proof-Engineering,” addressed the “durability crisis” in AI-driven software development. She argued that the industry’s primary bottleneck has shifted from code generation to code validation. To overcome this, she proposed a dual-track alignment approach that bridges formal proof-engineering with property-based testing to eliminate AI coding bottlenecks.

As an IEEE TCSE New Directions and ACM SIGSOFT Influential Educator awardee, Professor Kim, and her pioneering research in data-driven software analytics, continues to shape sustainable, AI-assisted development tools. Her current work focuses on software engineering tools for data-intensive and compute-intensive domains.
