ABSTRACT: Storage at Google has evolved over the years, growing from Terabytes to Petabytes and more. Along the way, use cases have evolved too, starting at Search, but moving to Gmail, Google Docs, Google+, Youtube and so on.  In this talk, we go over Bigtable, Megastore and Spanner, the major storage systems that Google has developed to answer these ever-growing demands, and the part that the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team plays in providing these systems reliably. BIO: I’ve been on the Site Reliability Engineering team providing and running the storage backends for Gmail, Google Docs and other Google Apps for 3.5 years.
