CS 201: Developing a New Internet Architecture, LIXIA ZHANG, UCLA – Computer Science

Speaker: Lixia Zhang
Affiliation: UCLA - Computer Science Department

ABSTRACT: The Internet has become an indispensable part in our modern society. In this talk I will share my observation from watching the Internet’s growth over the last 36 years, then speculate its potential evolution toward a new protocol architecture, Named Data Networking.  I will give a basic sketch of the NDN design, share our experience in NDN development over the last few years, discuss some of the research challenges in its realization, and what you can help. BIO: Lixia Zhang received her Ph.D in computer science from MIT, worked at Xerox PARC for some years, and has been a professor in the Computer Science Department of UCLA since 1995. Since 2010 she has been working on the Named Data Network project (http://named-data.net/).
