Anil Kripalani is President of WirefreeCom Incorporated, a Wireless Systems Consulting company, based in San Diego, California, and established in September 2007.

Anil is Board Member/Advisor to several technology startup and mid-sized businesses focused on innovative communications/multimedia technologies and profitable products/services/applications in the wireless, IPTV and software industry segments. Anil also recently engaged in developing a communications network solution for the energy exploration sector. The long-term focus for WirefreeCom is in the area of Smart Buildings.

Prior to launching WirefreeCom, Anil had spent thirty-two years in the wireless and data communications industry, at two R&D focused companies, AT&T Bell Laboratories and Qualcomm. Anil was Corporate Senior Vice President in Qualcomm’s Global Development and Infrastructure Divisions and held responsibility at different times for the Technology Marketing, Standards Strategy, Network Engineering organizations and Qualcomm corporate regional centers in India, China, Japan, Korea, Central/Latin America, Eastern and Western Europe.

At AT&T Bell Laboratories, he served as Wireless Systems Department Head in the Chief Architect’s Division and a Development Department Head, leading multi-disciplinary Bell Labs engineering teams for AT&T’s flagship cellular base station, reporting to the CTO of the Wireless Business Unit. He was an architect/manager for AT&T’s pre-Internet nationwide data communications network (BDN/Net 1000).

In the area of telecom standards, Anil served as TIA Standards Body Chairman (6 years), TIA SDO Vice Chairman (six years), and is current TIA Board Special Advisor. He served in the past as EIA Board Governor, Open Mobile Alliance Board Director (5 years), IEEE Vehicular Technology Society Board Governor (3 years).

Anil is current President of the San Diego Chapter of the TiE entrepreneur association, current UCLA Computer Science Alumni Advisory Board Member, was past Chairman of the Board of USC Marshall School of Business Center for Telecom Management (CTM), past Advisory Board Member for UCLA’s WINMEC and San Diego Symphony Board Director.

Anil received an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 1975, and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. in 1974. He enjoyed Executive Education (AT&T Leadership Continuity Program) in Telecommunications Management at Duke Fuqua Business School (1991), also Columbia Business School, Arden House Campus, NY (1994).
