Dr. Tamir received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering
and Computer Sciences from the
University of California, Berkeley.
He founded and is currently directing the
UCLA Concurrent Systems
Laboratory.
His research interests
include hardware, software, and algorithmic issues
related to the design and implementation of computer systems.
Most of his work is focused
on techniques for achieving high performance and
high reliability for parallel and distributed systems.
Current research projects include:
fault-tolerant cluster managers,
fault tolerance for distributed applications,
networks-on-a-chip for chip multiprocessors,
virtualization for dependability,
hardware support for checkpointing,
memory hierarchy in multicore chips,
fault injection.
