COURSE DESCRIPTION

This is a design course in support of UCLA's entry in the 2005 DARPA Grand Challenge. Projects will be proposed at the organizational meeting, when students will be asked to form groups to attach each project. Each group is assigned a sponsor, which is either a faculty member or a member of the Golem team. Students are required to document their progress in a series of reports, and to give a final demonstration or illustration of the result of their investigations, in the form of a simulation, a field experiment, or a literature survey. All material must be properly documented to be evaluated by the sponsor. Successful projects will be continued through subsequent terms, and possibly be included in the race car to compete in the Grand Challente in October 2005.

PREREQUISITES

The course is open to senior undergraduates, graduate students and anyone else willing and able to convince the team member that he/she can contribute to the projects.

GRADING POLICY

Grading will be based on the outcome of the projects.

OFFICE HOURS

There are no scheduled office hours. Open discussion is encouraged during the meetings. Additional meetings can be scheduled with team sponsors or with faculty advisor upon request.
