Current Weather Maps/Movies

The 6 panel items are generated by Brian Jewett at the University of Illinois, and the surface maps are generated here by WXMAP, a program written by Charley Kline . The North Africa/Europe images originate from the Department of Meteorology at The University of Edinburgh, Scotland. They are retrieved from cs.nott.ac.uk and src.doc.ic.ac.uk . The GMS 4 images are retrieved from explorer.arc.nasa.gov . The US IR/Radar Composite, the really cool IR world image, and then Antarctica Composite image came from the University of Wisconsin Space Science and Engineering Center (Awesome job guys!). The images are then converted into MPEG format here at MSU/UCG, see the movie times for update schedules. All GIF images, excepting the surface map, are converted into JPEG's here, for those on slower links. None of this would be possible without the base images provided from around the world, and I wish to give a *BIG* thanks to these guys for providing such an excellent service! Thanks Guys!

It is currently 55 degrees in East Lansing, with a relative humidity of 100%. Here are the current weather conditions and forecast for Lansing Michigan.

!!NOTE!! Volcano erupts at Rabaul Caldera, Papua New Guinea at roughly 10pm GMT September 18, 1994. The eruptions can be seen in the GMS-4 imagery. I have produced two mpeg's zoomed in on the area, the first is infrared, while the second second is infrared in false color. More information is available from Michigan Tech University.
