Center for Embedded Networked Sensing

I am a Computer Science Ph.D. candidate and a member of the Center for Embedded Networked Sensing (CENS). I work with Prof. Deborah Estrin, and Prof. Ramesh Govindan.

Education

Ph.D. Computer Science, University of California, Los Angeles, CA, present

M.Math. Computer Science, University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, 2008.

B.S. Computer Engineering, Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, 2006.

Research

I am generally interested in Computer Networks, and Operating Systems. My research is focused on making mobile phones smarter networked devices especially when they are used in health applications.

As a Master's student at the University of Waterloo, I was a member of the Tetherless Computing Lab, where I worked on the KioskNet Project with Prof. S. Keshav. I also studied scanning strategies for opportunistic communication over Wi-Fi on multi-NIC mobile devices.

Projects

  • SystemSens is an Android logging tool that collects system level information and visualizes them on a web server.
  • SystemLog is the equivalent of Syslog for Android.
  • WiFiGPSLocation is an Andriod service that duty-cycles the GPS based on WiFi signature.
  • Participatory mHealth course: I helped Prof. Estrin with her Participatory mHealth class during Spring 2011.
