Mauro Sentinelli: born in Rome in 1947.
In 1974 he joins SIP (currently Telecom Italia).
Doctor in Electronic Engineering from
Rome University (summa cum laude)
Master in Telephony from Turin Polytechnic
(summa cum laude)
MBA from CEDEP/Insead (Fontainebleau,
France)
Short MBA from Kellogg University (Chicago, USA)
1980 Member of IEC (International Electro
technical Commission) and CEPT (Conference
Europeenne des Postes et Telecommunications)
In 1983 he becomes founder Member of the Global
System for Mobile Communication (GSM).
Chairman of the sub-Committee for the
choice of the GSM system.
In 1991 he is Director of Marketing & Planning in
the Mobile Division of SIP (now Telecom
Italia).
In 1992 he has appointed Chairman
of ETNO (European Telecommunications Network Operators)
for the mobile systems.
In 1994 he is appointed Deputy Managing Director of
Telecom Italia's Mobile Division.
In 1996 he designs and launches the prepaid “TIMCard” service,
for which he receives the Outstanding Marketing Award from
the GSM MoU Association.
In May 1997 he leaves TIM for a US experience and in
July 1999 he comes back in TIM as a Group Managing Director.
In November 1999 he designs and launches UNI.TIM
Universal Number and the AutoRicarica tariff
(customers receive a bonus for the incoming traffic).
In January 2000 he receives the "Man of the
Year 1999, Marketing Award ".
In May 2000 he launches i-TIM,
interactive services.
In February 2002 he receives by the GSM Association (now
2 billions customers in 210 nations & territories) the
Prize:
“Roll of Honour for Lifetime Achievement Award”
In April 2002 He is appointed member of TIM Board
of Directors.
In February 2003 he is elected Deputy Chairman of
the GSM Associacion
December 2004 and 2006 he is re-elected Deputy
Chairman of the GSM Association for the period
2005 – 2006 and 2006 - 2008
January 2005 he leaves TIM as General Manager and becomes member
of the Board and Managing Director of TIM International.
