AREAS OF INTEREST

Dr. Estrin received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Wisconsin in 1948, 1949, and 1951. In 1960, she joined the UCLA Brain Research Institute and founded the Data Processing Laboratory and was director from 1970-1980. In 1980, she transferred to the Computer Science Department with research interests in biomedical computing. From 1982-1984, she was on leave serving as Director of the NSF Division of Electrical, Computing, and System Engineering. Dr. Estrin has been a consultant to industry and government and is active in professional societies. She is a Fellow of IEEE, AAAS, SWE, and the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering. She is presently involved in the application of science and technology to the advancement of women in computer science fields.
