HOW TO BECOME A GOOD TEACHER

Project Galileo http://galileo.harvard.edu leads you to, "your way to innovative science teaching methods." The main thrust of this project, in part funded by the National Science Foundation http://www.nsf.gov , is to disseminate innovative instructional techniques and materials widely available to instructors worldwide. This instructional environment is documented in a book Peer Instruction: A User's Manual, by Eric Mazur (1997).

Mazur shows teachers how to challenge students in large introductory physics classes to think about the physics instead of having his students memorize equations. Mazur's instructional techniques are transferable to other areas, and offer numerous class-tested ready-to-use instructional scenarios. The method is applicable to graduate teaching assistants, and in general, if you aspire to any type of teaching career (e.g., high school, college, and beyond).
