A short bio.
What's New:
October 2008:
My paper "A Retrospective View of Network Address Translation" appeared in September/October issue of IEEE Network. This is one of my own "look-back" thought exercise. I welcome your comments!
October 2008:
Our paper "Cyclops: An AS-level Connectivity Observatory" appeared in October issue of CCR. Ricardo gave a talk on Cyclops at NANOG-43 back in June; here is his presentation slides.

October 2008:
It is commonly recognized that the Internet AS-level topology inferred from publically available BGP data is incomplete, however there has been no quantitative estimate on exactly how incomplete the inferred topology might be. We addressed this question in a recent technical report,
"Quantifying the Completeness of the Observed Internet AS-level Structure".

I normally take on new graduate students from CS217 classes.
My suggestion to new students is to dive into research projects right away. Mohit showed me the pointer to some excellent advice on independent studies by Prof. Brian Kernighan of Princeton University.
